    New Polish envoy to the People’s Republic of China formally assumed his post on the 15th of January.

    Before taking up his post in Beijing, Wojciech Zajączkowski was the Director of the Department of Foreign Policy Strategy at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2008 to 2010, he was Poland’s Ambassador to Romania, and from 2010 to 2014 he served as his country’s Ambassador to Russia. During his earlier diplomatic career he was posted to Russia, Ukraine and Turkmenistan. From 2004 to 2007 Ambassador Zajączkowski headed the Department for Eastern Policy, and in 2008 he became the Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister of Poland and Head of the Working Group on Energy Security.

     

    Prior to joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998, Mr. Zajączkowski worked as an editor, advisor to the Senate of the Republic of Poland, and analyst.
